Korean Language Classes in Halifax

Next semester starts September 10th 2025

Welcome to NSKo! We are a Korean cultural group dedicated to sharing the beauty of Korean language and culture through free progressive classes for students of all levels.

Important note about our free classes

While our mission has always been to make learning accessible and inclusive, we have observed some challenges with student attendance which makes it hard to organize our volunteer teachers.

To address this, we are going to experiment by introducing a **$30 refundable deposit** as part of the registration process. This deposit is **not a fee**—it’s fully refundable for students who are in attendance for at least 70% of the 4-month semester (approximately 11 of 16 classes).

In case you can’t attend because of a business trip, family emergency, etc., we ask that you give us as much advanced notice as possible to help us plan more easily.

Of course, at the end of the semester, if you’d prefer to leave us your deposit as a donation, that’s fine too! Funds will go towards NSKo expenses related to materials, events, and so on.

Dates & Time

Fall semester starts Wednesday September 10th and will run 4 months (approx. 14-15 weeks).

Time: 6:30 pm-8 pm

Level Placement

Students who got at least 70% on their test can advance to the next level. You are welcome to repeat a level if you’d prefer (please let us know).

Students new to NSKo will take a level test with Alex Oh (see registration form for details).
